Purpose of session
The session looks at best practices and lessons learned during recent major flood events, the roles of organisations both public and private in managing flood risk, and different models of flood risk governance including:
- How do water management strategies in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland differ from those of England?
- How do differences in planning legislation in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland impact the uptake of Sustainable Drainage Systems and contribute to minimising flood risk?
- How resilient is England's water management infrastructure to extreme events and how can we build capacity?
- What role should water companies play in flood risk management?
