Forestry in England
Neil Parish MP, Chair, has written to the Secretary of State for further information relating to response to the Forestry in England report. In the letter, the Chair expresses concerns that the response did not adequately address a number of the report's conclusions and recommendations. In particular:
- The Committee's concerns over the Government's commitment to the target of 12% woodland cover by 2060
- The Committee's recommendation to simplify the process of applying for forestry grants and the creation of a single point of contact in time for the UK's departure from the EU
- The Committee's recommendation that Defra increases its activity within Government to promote UK-wood and UK-wood products.

Flood and Water Management Act 2010
The Chair also wrote to the Secretary of State relating to the response to the Committee's post-legislative scrutiny of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010. In the letter, the Chair expresses disappointment that the Government is unable to provide a substantive response to the majority of recommendations on the key issue of sustainable drainage (SuDS) whilst the review by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) remains unpublished.
