The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee (EFRA) will quiz the CEO, CFO and Chair of Thames Water in a public hearing of the Committee at 10am on Tuesday 13 May.

The Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs, Daniel Zeichner MP, will appear before the EFRA Select Committee, to face MPs’ questions on their thematic inquiries on the future of farming, fairness in the food supply chain, and fisheries and the marine environment.

The EFRA Committee has today written to the Minister for Food Security and Rural Affairs, Daniel Zeichner MP, detailing its findings so far from its inquiry into ‘Fairness in the food supply chain’.

Reacting to the news that the Government is stopping accepting new SFI applications, the Chair of the EFRA Committee, Alistair Carmichael MP, said:

Alistair Carmichael, Chair of the EFRA Committee has today written to the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Baroness Hayman of Ullock, to seek answers on the outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Germany in January.

The EFRA Committee today publishes a document which details its strategic principles and the policy priorities that will underpin its work over the course of this Parliament.

The EFRA Committee holds two evidence sessions next week as part of its ‘reforming the water sector’ inquiry, quizzing the executives of Northumbrian Water and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water on Tuesday 11 March, and the bosses of Anglian Water and Wessex Water on Wednesday 12 March.

Both sessions will be an opportunity for MPs to quiz the companies on their individual financial performance, environmental performance, service delivery and consumer satisfaction.  

The EFRA Committee today announces the schedule for its upcoming evidence sessions with water companies, as part of its ‘reforming the water sector’ inquiry.
