New items of scrutiny

Regularly when the House of Lords is sitting, and periodically during Parliamentary recesses (when necessary), the Chair of the European Affairs Committee, in consultation with Counsel for European Law, undertakes a sift through the most recent EU documents and proposals deposited in Parliament by the Government in order to decide whether the Committee should undertake detailed scrutiny.(When necessary, this process is also undertaken during Parliamentary recesses.)
