European Statutory Instruments Committee is no longer operating and is dissolved
23 September 2024
The European Statutory Instruments Committee has been dissolved as of 30 May 2024.
The role of the committee was to examine statutory instruments that the Government used to make revisions to the law, as part of and subsequent to the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.
The Committee examined certain instruments laid under the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 2020 and the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023. The role of the Committee was to examine relevant instruments that the Government intended to take forward under the “negative procedure” and to make recommendations as to whether they should instead be taking forward via the “affirmative procedure”.
