Instruments to be considered by the Committee on 24 March
23 March 2020
The Committee will be considering three negative proposed SIs at its next meeting on Tuesday 24 March. Below you can find out how to engage with the Committee's work. The SIs being considered by the Committee this week are:
- Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020
- Harbours and Highways (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020
- Regulation (EC) No 1370/2007 (Public Service Obligations in Transport) (Amendment) (EU Exit) Regulations 2020
We have launched an engagement tool where you can find negative proposed SIs that the Committee will be considering. We'll post negative proposed SIs as soon as they are laid. You can comment on the instruments until up to a day before the Committee meets. The deadline for submitting comments is listed under each SI.
If you would like guidance on submitting a comment it can be found on the website here. The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee conducts scrutiny of the same instruments.
The Committee can recommend that a proposed negative be subject to the affirmative procedure. The Government can reject or accept recommendations made by the Committees, but has to provide a written statement if it chooses to reject a recommendation to make a statutory instrument affirmative.
