DCMS Committee acting Chair welcomes publication of draft Media Bill

Following the publication this afternoon of the Government’s draft Media Bill, Damian Green MP, acting Chair of the DCMS Committee has confirmed that the Committee will undertake pre-legislative scrutiny on the draft Bill.

Acting Chair of the DCMS Committee Damian Green MP said:
“I welcome today’s publication of the long-awaited draft Media Bill, which seeks to modernise broadcasting legislation and ensure that our Public Service Broadcasters are on a sustainable footing for the future.
The DCMS Committee will scrutinise the draft Bill carefully in the coming weeks and seek views from interested parties, reporting its conclusions by the summer to help ensure the legislation meets the needs of industry and viewers.”
