  • John Edwards, Government’s preferred candidate for Information Commissioner

John Edwards was appointed Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand in 2014 and re-appointed in 2019. MPs consider the candidate’s prior experience and expected priorities in the role, such as those set out in the Government’s National Data Strategy. Questions could also focus on data protection and freedom of information, both areas within the ICO’s remit.
