Chair writes to Facebook following Mike Schroepfer session

1 May 2018

The Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Damian Collins MP, has written to Facebook following the questioning of Mike Schroepfer, its Chief Technology Officer at a public session last week. The Committee found his evidence unsatisfactory and has called again for Mark Zuckerberg to appear.

40 specific questions that weren't answered fully

The letter details almost 40 specific questions that Mike Schroepfer was unable to answer fully, or promised a written response, including on: dark ads and Facebook's financial gain from them; third party app developers; foreign interference and advertising spend in elections; the employment of Joseph Chancellor; GDPR and the storage and privacy of user data amongst other issues.

The Committee has asked Facebook to respond to each point, and for confirmation of Mark Zuckerberg's attendance before the Committee by the 11th May.
