Carrie Gracie to give evidence to MPs on gender pay gap at BBC, Tony Hall invited to appear
9 January 2018
Today the Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Damian Collins MP, has written to the Director-General of the BBC, Tony Hall, asking him to appear before the Committee to discuss the action that the corporation is taking to address the gender pay gap.
The Committee has also issued an invitation to Carrie Gracie, former BBC China Editor, whose open letter to the licence fee payer this week highlighted the issue. Carrie Gracie has agreed to give evidence to MPs on the subject.
The BBC told the Committee during a public evidence session in November 2017 that it had brought in external consultants to assist with the problem.
More details of this session will be announced in due course.
