Chair and Ian Lucas MP to join Senators from Intelligence Committee for Atlantic Council meeting on Russian interference in elections

13 July 2018

On Monday July 16, 2018 the Atlantic Council will host an event entitled Pulling at the Strings: The Kremlin's Interference in Elections at the Atlantic Council Headquarters. The Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Damian Collins MP, and senior Labour member of the Committee Ian Lucas MP, will join Senators Mark Warner and Marco Rubio from the Senate Intelligence Committee and other parliamentarians from across the world at the event held in partnership with the Transatlantic Commission on Election Integrity.

Following Kremlin meddling in several elections, Western governments, civil society, and the private sector must take steps to build resilience and resistance against disinformation campaigns and interference. This event will bring together members of parliaments from across the EU and Eastern Partnership countries as well as leaders from the policy community, media, and government for an important discussion.

Damian Collins MP will feature in a panel discussion at 3pm [EST] where he will discuss the Committee's investigation into Fake news and disinformation, including on the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook data scraping scandal, which is due to report in a few weeks time.
