Fake news evidence session announced

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee will be holding the first public session as part of its inquiry into fake news on Tuesday 19th December from 10.15am.

Fake news
MPs will be hearing from two panels on two different aspects of Fake News. First, they will explore the role that artificial intelligence and algorithms play in both the dissemination of disinformation, and ways in which disinformation can be tackled, hearing from representatives from the Oxford Internet Institute and the University of Sheffield.
For the second panel, the Committee will focus on alleged Russian influence in the Catalonian independence referendum, hearing evidence from the Managing Director of the Spanish newspaper El Pais, the European Council on Foreign Relations, and the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid.
