Committee to question senior industry figures on secondary ticketing

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sports Committee will hear from witnesses from across the music and ticketing industries on Wednesday 5 September at 2.30pm in an evidence session as part of its Live music inquiry. Witnesses include senior representatives from major ticketing sites such as Ticketmaster, StubHub and Viagogo, as well as promoter Kilimanjaro Live, the FanFair Alliance and the Islington Assembly Hall.

About the session
MPs will likely ask witnesses about how successful the reforms to secondary ticketing have been and what more needs to be done to act against market abuse from ticket touts, amongst other issues.
The Committee is also publishing written evidence submitted to the inquiry. Nearly one-third of the written evidence the Committee received was from individuals expressing dissatisfaction with their experiences of secondary ticketing sites—principally Viagogo.
The evidence reflected the diversity of the UK's live music scene, covering everything from busking to the problems facing grassroots music venues and the impact of festivals on the rural economy. All the evidence published today can be found on the Committee's website:

“The Committee has previously looked at abuses in the secondary ticketing marketing, and how these have led fans to be ripped off when trying to get to see their favourite acts. We want to look at the progress that has been made in reforming the ticketing industry over the last 18 months, and what more needs to be done.”
