Media Bill Third Reading: Comment from CMS Committee Chair Dame Caroline Dinenage MP

Commenting after the Third Reading of the Media Bill, Dame Caroline Dinenage MP, Chair of the CMS Committee, said: “I welcome the Media Bill passing its remaining Commons stages. The Bill is vital to modernise our public sector broadcasters and ensure that radio can continue to thrive in the UK.
It is however disappointing that the Government has yet to bring forward an amendment for the much-needed digital rights regime for listed events, which would further improve the Bill. I hope Ministers will be able to introduce proposals on this as the legislation goes through the Lords.”
The Committee previously undertook pre-legislative scrutiny of the draft Bill.
