Committee examines rights of EU citizens residing in the UK

The Committee on the Future Relationship with the European Union examines how the rights of EU citizens residing in the UK have been affected by the UK's departure from the EU.

The Withdrawal Agreement, signed by the EU and the UK, guarantees EU and UK citizens and their family members who have exercised their right of free movement under EU law broadly the same rights as they have now.
In this evidence session, the Committee will question representatives of the 3million and Eastern European Resource Centre about the experiences of EU citizens in the UK using the EU Settlement Scheme—the application system for receiving Settled or Pre-Settled Status.
The Committee is expected to ask how the scheme is operating with just under one year left before the 30 June 2021 deadline for applications, what concerns there might be for vulnerable and at-risk groups of EU citizens applying to the scheme, and what additional support is available to EU citizens in the UK to secure their rights under the Withdrawal Agreement.
