Draft EU Withdrawal Agreement and Political Declaration examined

The Exiting the European Union Committee holds an evidence session on the draft Withdrawal Agreement, as part of its over-arching inquiry examining the progress of the UK's negotiations on EU withdrawal.

Examination of key Brexit documents

In this session, the Committee will examine the draft Withdrawal Agreement and outline Political Declaration on the Future Relationship published on 14 November. Ahead of a Special Meeting of the European Council this coming Sunday, the Committee will focus on the overall agreement reached by the negotiating teams, as well as specific issues such as the backstop protocol, ‘level playing field' provisions and dispute resolution mechanisms. The Committee is also expected to consider UK and EU perspectives on the future relationship negotiations, and the possibility of extending the transition period beyond December 2020.
