15 May 2018

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has published the Government responses to its reports on the impact of Brexit on the automotive and aerospace sectors.

Automotive industry

The Committee's report on the automotive industry called on the Government to keep the closest possible relationship with the existing EU regulatory and trading framework to give UK volume car manufacturing a realistic chance of survival post-Brexit.

Aerospace industry

The report on the aerospace sector concluded that the Government must maintain the UK's membership of the European Aviation Safety Agency and warned that leaving with no deal would be highly costly and disruptive to the UK aerospace sector and aviation, as well as its EU counterparts.

Future report

On Thursday, the Committee will be publishing ‘The impact of Brexit on the pharmaceutical sector' - the fifth and final report on the impact of Brexit on different sectors of the UK economy. Embargoed copies will be available from Wednesday morning.
