Boardroom diversity examined

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee continues its corporate governance inquiry with a session on boardroom diversity, looking at issues such as worker representation, increasing the number of women at executive level, and boosting the ethnic diversity of board members.

Purpose of the session
The Committee hears the views from witnesses Denise Wilson and Tom Shropshire, who are involved in two major reports on board diversity, the Hampton/Alexander review and the Parker report.
The session also follows on from the Government's recent corporate governance Green Paper which received criticised in some quarters for backtracking on the PM's talk of installing workers representatives on boards. The Committee hears from an employee board member and another Board Member (a CEO) about their working relationship and the issues connected with worker representation on boards.
