The Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Committee questions Sajid Javid, Secretary of State of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, about developments in the UK steel industry. The Committee also hears from steel industry representatives.

Purpose of session

The session examines developments in the UK steel industry since the Committee reported on it in December 2015. It looks at the Tata sale process currently underway and the acquisition by Greybull Capital of the Scunthorpe plant, as well as on Government action to support the industry, in the UK and at a European level.
