1 November 2017

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee questions Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, on energy price caps.

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has also published recent correspondence on the Government's draft energy price cap Bill between Rachel Reeves MP, Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee, and Rt Hon Greg Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Impact of energy price caps

On 17 October, the BEIS Committee held an evidence session on the likely impact of an energy price cap with representatives from Ofgem, Centrica, OVO Energy, and Octopus Energy. The Committee also heard from Professor Catherine Waddams, Professor of Economic Regulation, Norwich Business School.

Last week, the BEIS Committee launched its call for evidence on the Draft Domestic Gas and Electricity (Tariff Cap) Bill . The BEIS Committee's pre-legislative scrutiny will involve examining the objective, provisions, and likely impact of the legislation and the call for evidence will be followed by evidence hearings, likely to take place in December and January. The deadline for written evidence submissions is 29 November 2017
