The Business, Innovation and Skills Committee hears from key business trade bodies, sectoral representatives and banking representatives as part of its inquiry into exports and the role of UK Trade and Industry (UKTI).

  • Lee Hopley, Chief Economist, EEF
  • Ian Wright, Director General, Food and Drink Federation
  • Robert Keen, Director General, British International Freight Association

At 10.45am: Banking representatives

  • Eric Leenders, Managing Director Retail and Commercial, British Bankers Association
  • Steve Childs, Head of International, Barclays

Purpose of the session

The session is likely to look at:

  • the types of exporting support that different business sizes and sectors require;
  • the Government's planned reforms to UK Trade and Industry;
  • the relationship between UKTI, UK Export Finance and financial institutions; and
  • access to export finance for SMEs.
