Businesses and Brexit preparedness - Business Committee hears from industry & business

On Tuesday 8 December, the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee will be holding a session on businesses and Brexit preparedness, hearing from witnesses from sectors including food and drink, financial and related professional services, plastics, and the automotive industry.

The session on Tuesday is likely to examine issues including the current position of the sectors in relation to Brexit preparedness, issues around the potential impact of border delays, the level of Government support and engagement for business preparedness, and the potential impact of no deal.

The Committee has also published today 17 written evidence submissions on businesses and Brexit preparedness. Full list of submissions included further below.

Earlier this week, Darren Jones, Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee wrote to Alok Sharma [letter available via link] to express the Committee's “deep regret” at the Secretary of State’s refusal to attend the evidence hearing examining business preparedness for Brexit and asking him to reconsider.
