Second Government response to semiconductors inquiry published

25 May 2023

Following the announcement of the UK’s semiconductor strategy the Government have provided MPs with a follow up response to the former Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee’s report on the semiconductor industry in the UK.

The Government’s initial response was deemed to be incomplete by the Committee as key report recommendations were to be addressed in a strategy which was still being drafted, and consequently the Government had not responded to them. As a result, MPs asked the Government to get back to them once they had finalised the strategy.

Responsibility for the semiconductors strategy now rests with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology following machinery of Government changes earlier this year, and the break-up of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
