Business and Trade Committee announce new inquiries

The Business and Trade Committee decided today to launch the following inquiries:
- The performance of investment zones and freeports in England
- The Committee decided to ask the National Audit Office to undertake an investigation into transactions at Teesside Freeport and to inform the Committee of its findings so that they can be taken into account in the Committee’s inquiry
- Export-led growth
- The 2026 review of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement
- The approach of the Business and Trade Committee to scrutiny of future Free Trade Agreements
The Committee also decided to hold an evidence session on the future of the CBI.
Further detail, including terms of reference and calls for evidence, will be published in due course.
In addition, in relation to taking evidence from the Post Office in respect of bonus payments to senior executives, the Committee has decided to call senior figures from Post Office Ltd to give evidence. This session will take place following the Post Office internal review, which is due to be provided to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade within two weeks.
