Publication of social media guidance
18 December 2023
The House of Lords Commission agreed to publish guidance for members on using social media, which was drafted and refined by the Steering Group for Change and Conduct Committee. Social media has dramatically transformed how people, including members of the House of Lords, communicate. The new guidance, which is not designed to be prescriptive, is intended to support members to use social media confidently, responsibly and effectively. It provides good practice advice and practical tips on using different social media channels, as well as setting out some basic principles for engaging online.
The Chairs of the Steering Group for Change and Conduct Committee, Baroness Donaghy and Baroness Manningham-Buller, have written to the Lord Speaker endorsing the Commission’s decision to publish this guidance.
