Policies and trends examined for a new Middle East inquiry

The International Relations Committee invites former British Ambassador to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon to discuss new geopolitical trends in the Middle East, and the significance of these on UK policy.

  • What impactions does the rise of China's influence in the region present?
  • What approach should the UK adopt in the region, in terms of reconstruction, assuming that ISIL/Daesh's strength will eventually diminish?
  • How important is the relationship between Iran and Saudi Arabia for the future stability of the region?
