House of Commons Commission decisions – 29 October 2018

COMMISSION

1.   Outcome of the assurance exercise relating to masonry falls

The Commission noted the findings of the review.

2.   The House of Commons and Parliamentary Digital Service D&I Strategy 2019–2022 

The Commission agreed the D&I strategy 2019–2022.

3.   Catering services responsible alcohol service: six-month update

The Commission noted the update. 

4.   Risk Management Update: October 2018

The Commission noted the HoC Principal risks.

5.   Performance Reporting

The Commission took note of the paper.     

6.   Fire Life Safety Works: update

The Commission noted the progress made since June 2018 and the continuing work.

7.   Dame Laura Cox Report – immediate next steps

The Commission agreed to:

• support the implementation of the two principal recommendations which fall to the House to agree to: effective access to the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme for those with historical complaints, and determination of complaints without the involvement of MPs.
• work with the Leader of the House to bring forward proposals for the six-month review of the new Scheme.
• work with the Standards Committee and the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards on next steps.  They will be invited to attend the 26 November Commission meeting.
• support the development of an action plan by the Commons Executive Board, under the auspices of the Commission's external members.
