19 June 2020

Implementation of Dame Laura Cox's recommendations nears completion

The Leader of the House has announced that there will be a debate on Tuesday 23 June on the implementation of the third and final main recommendation of Dame Laura Cox's report into bullying and harassment, that the process for determining complaints against MPs should be entirely independent.

A copy of the motions to be debated can be found here.

The proposals are based on recommendations made by the House of Commons Commission, following a consultation held during the spring. The consultation document can be found here, as well as a high-level summary of the responses received (here), and a redacted compendium of the responses here.

The Commission has published an explanatory paper ahead of the debate, which is available here.

Dame Laura Cox has issued a statement ahead of the debate on Tuesday 23 June. A copy of her statement can be found here.
