The Ombudsman Service operates, on a not-for-profit basis, a range of sector specific consumer redress schemes in sectors including energy, communications and wider consumer disputes.
The areas likely to be covered in the evidence session are:
- Current EU consumer protection legislation, which aspects are the most important and which should be retained
- Concerns about the lack of consumer protection in the Government's Brexit plans, and whether it is realistic to expect protection to be preserved in domestic legislation
- Suggestions as to how the Government should best conduct the consumer protection related aspects of the Brexit negotiations.
