Brexit: security and police co-operation inquiry launched
6 September 2016
The EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee launches its inquiry into future security and police co-operation between the UK and EU.
The House of Lords EU Committee and its six Sub-Committees are conducting a coordinated series of short inquiries looking at the key issues that will arise in the forthcoming negotiations on Brexit.
Scope of the inquiry
Following the vote to leave the European Union, the Sub-Committee is conducting an inquiry into the implications of Brexit for UK-EU security and police co-operation.
The overarching aim of the inquiry will be to consider what aspects of UK-EU police and security co-operation the UK may wish to maintain after it leaves the EU, and to examine the practicalities of doing so.
The inquiry will begin with a first oral evidence session on 14 September 2016, hearing from academics and representatives from Statewatch and The Bar Council.
