Likely questions
The Committee launched its inquiry into the UK's post-Brexit relationship with the EIB, in July 2018. In this evidence session, the committee will be asking:
- Should the UK establish its own state investment bank to replace EIB funding?
- What are the benefits to having an independent institution compared to schemes run directly by the Government?
- Would a state investment bank be able to acquire the necessary scale and expertise before December 2020? Would there be a 'financing gap'?
- How would a UK state investment bank affect public finances? Would it be affected by state aid rules?
