Women and Equalities Committee to hear from faith groups on the barriers and aids to community cohesion

The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from Jewish and Muslim faith groups during the second evidence session in Parliament on Wednesday, 19 March of its Community cohesion inquiry.

MPs on the cross-party committee, chaired by Labour MP Sarah Owen, will take evidence from Jewish and Muslim organisations on the barriers and aids to community cohesion within the UK, as well as the impact of social media, disinformation and misinformation.
The first panel will look at the experience of Jewish communities in the UK, including incidents of antisemitism, while the second panel will examine the experience of Muslim communities in the UK, including of anti-Muslim hatred and Islamophobia.
A third panel comprising the Local Government Association and Belong Network will also discuss barriers and possible solutions to community cohesion, particularly through local government.
