WEC to hear from Dame Sara Khan during first evidence session of community cohesion inquiry

31 January 2025

The Women and Equalities Committee (WEC) will hear from Dame Sara Khan DBE, during the first evidence session in Parliament on Wednesday 5 February of its new inquiry into Community Cohesion.

The former Independent Adviser for Social Cohesion and Resilience to the UK Government and Author of the Khan Review will appear before the cross-party committee to answer questions examining its most prominent themes.

Dame Sara Khan was tasked with understanding the state of cohesion and chief threats to it in the UK. The session will scrutinise recommendations made by the Review, published in March last year (2024), which have not yet been implemented by the new Government.

WEC’s community cohesion inquiry examines the state of community cohesion nationwide and how barriers to it can be best addressed. It assesses what actions the Government should take to improve and sustain community cohesion across the country, including examples of best practice and how to ensure cohesion for the next generation.
