Minister questioned on LGBTQ+ issues

The Government's stance on LGBT+ issues are to come under scrutiny as the Minister for Equalities, Mike Freer MP, appears before the House of Commons' Women and Equalities Committee. Alongside representatives from the Government's Equality Hub, Minister Freer is to be questioned on a range of topics relating to Government strategies and policy positions.

MPs on the Committee will question witnesses on transgender matters, including the  Government’s working following the Committee's Gender Recognition Act Report. Proposals to ban conversion practices, examined by the Committee in two evidence sessions in November 2021, will also be examined.

The session will also focus on the Government's plans to tackle violence towards the LGBT+ community and its progress on improving LGBT+ healthcare, including gender identity clinics,  access to fertility services and mental health support.
