The Government is currently undertaking a six-week consultation on a ban on conversion therapy (which has been broadly defined as treatments or practices that aim to change or suppress someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity), which will close on 10 December.
This session will examine the Government's definition of conversion therapy, the process of developing current proposals and how the proposed ban will interact with other acts. Other topics are likely to include informed consent and gender identity. MPs will also scrutinise the role of the Minister for Equalities.
