Office for National Statistics questioned on the Census 2021

6 February 2019

The Women and Equalities Committee holds a one-off session to scrutinise how the Government and Office for National Statistics (ONS) are preparing for the 2021 Census.

Purpose of the session

In December 2018, the Government published its White Paper, â€˜Help Shape Our Future: The 2021 Census of Population and Housing in England and Wales'. In it, the Government sets out its plans for undertaking the census, which will take place in March 2021.

The session will explore some of the changes that the Government is planning to make from the 2011 census, including:

  • Changes to demographic questions
  • Changes to the way in which individuals are encouraged and facilitated to complete the census.

Wednesday 6 February 2019, Committee room 16, Palace of  Westminster.

At 09.50:

  • Frankie Kay, Director of Census Transformation, Office for National Statistics
