MPs to examine the work of PHSO in annual scrutiny session

9 November 2023

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee will next week hold its annual evidence session scrutinising the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO). The session will explore PHSO casework performance and productivity, staff management and training, value for money and impact on other organisations. The organisation’s Corporate Strategy for 2022-2025 will also be examined.

The Committee will use this session to reflect on the outgoing Ombudsman’s seven-year tenure, which ends in March 2024. MPs will also hear from Rebecca Hilsenrath, the recently appointed Chief Executive of the PHSO, on her priorities for the role and how she intends to deliver the organisation’s Corporate Strategy.

This is the fifth annual scrutiny session the Committee has held with the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) since the 2019 election.
