Scrutiny of Common Frameworks opens to evidence

An influential Commons committee is calling for evidence on a raft of frameworks agreed between the devolved administrations and the UK Government designed to help ensure consistency across the UK in a number of sectors following Brexit.
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Public health protection and health security
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Organs, Tissues and Cells (apart from embryos and gametes)
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Blood Safety and Quality
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Nutrition Labelling Composition and Standards
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Commercial Transport and Operator Licensing
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Motor Insurance
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Driver Licensing
- Common Framework Scrutiny: Rail technical standards
- Public Adminstration Constitutional Affairs Committee
Known as ‘Common Frameworks’, the agreements are necessary to aid continuity and cooperation to avoid potentially harmful divergence in critical areas that are devolved but were previously regulated and managed at the EU level while the UK was a Member State. These Frameworks govern, among other things, consistency of healthcare access, coordination of public health responses to issues such as pandemics, and services that operate across borders like insurance and rail.
The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee is today launching a call for evidence into particular Common Frameworks relating transport and health and social care. Specifically, the inquiries will cover the Common Frameworks on:
- Public health protection and health security: provisional common framework
- Organs, Tissues and Cells (apart from embryos and gametes)
- Blood Safety and Quality
- Nutrition health claims, composition and labelling
- Commercial Transport and Operator Licensing
- Motor Insurance
- Driver Licensing
- Rail technical standards (interoperability)
