Robert Buckland questioned on Constitution, Democracy and Rights Commission

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee takes evidence from Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, Robert Buckland, on Tuesday 8 December as part of its inquiry into the Government’s Constitution, Democracy and Rights Commission.

The Government has committed to establishing a Constitution, Democracy and Rights commission to “look at the broader aspects of our constitution” and produce “proposals to restore trust in our institutions and in how our democracy operates”.
The session will investigate the Government’s progress in establishing the Commission, setting out its remit and the priority issues it will seek to address. It will also look at the potential mechanisms for incorporating public views, such as Citizens’ Assemblies.
