Decisions of the Petitions Committee Tuesday 23 January 2018

This week the Committee's decisions included scheduling debates on imposing financial sanction on Myanmar, and changing the GCSE English Literature exam to open book.

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a government response, by Friday 19 January.

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Tuesday 30 January.

  • Impose Financial sanctions on the State of Myanmar (Burma)

The Committee decided to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petitions 200224 and 200371, and public petitions P002061, P002064, P002078 and P002104, relating to Myanmar's Rohingya minority” on Monday 16 April at 4.30pm. 

Helen Jones MP, the Chair of the Committee, will open the debate. 

 

The Committee decided to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petition 200299 relating to GCSE English literature exams” on Monday 26 March at 4.30pm.
