Decisions of the Petitions Committee Tuesday 11 December 2018

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a government response, by Friday 7 December. 

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Tuesday 18 December.

Petitions with over 10,000 signatures which have received a government response

• Grant a People's Vote if Parliament rejects the EU Withdrawal Agreement

In view of the uncertain parliamentary timetable, the Committee decided to take a decision on scheduling this petition in January.

• The UK should not agree the UN's Global Compact for Migration

The Committee decided to write to the Government to ask for a more direct response to the petitioner's request.

• Make it a legal requirement to have a second safety critical person on trains

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Stop the detention of people with autism & learning disability's in ATU's

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Put pressure on the Chinese Government over the treatment of Uyghur Muslims

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Allow parents to take children out of school for 1 week a year during term time

The Committee noted the Government's response.

Revised Government responses

• Rescind Art.50 if Vote Leave has broken Electoral Laws regarding 2016 referendum

The Committee noted the Government's response, and requested that it be published.
