Decisions of the Petitions Committee Tuesday 19 March 2019

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a government response, by Friday 15 March. 

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Tuesday 26 March. 

Petitions with over 10,000 signatures which have received a government response

• UK Government to Fund Advice Services for British Citizens living in Spain

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Automatic by-election if an MP resigns membership of their political party

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• The Royal Fleet Auxiliary support ships should be built in the UK

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Freeze the £1bn RFA ship tender till we leave EU directives, to ensure UK build

The Committee noted the Government's response.

• Make it a criminal offence for MPs to deliberately mislead the general public

The Committee requested a clearer response from the Government.

• Recognise animal sentience & require that animal welfare has full regard in law

The Committee noted the Government's response.

Revised Government responses

• Increase funding to children's Mental Health Services

The Committee noted the revised response, and requested that it be published.
