Decisions of the Petitions Committee Tuesday 23 April 2019

This week, the Committee's decisions included scheduling debates on making 'netting' hedgerows to prevent birds from nesting a criminal offence, immunity for soldiers who worked in Northern Ireland, and life sentences for death by dangerous driving.

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a government response, by Friday 12 April.

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Tuesday 30 April.

The Committee decided to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petition 244233 relating to protecting nesting sites for birds” on Monday 13 May at 4.30pm.
Mike Hill MP, a member of the Committee, will open the debate.

 

The Committee decided to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petition 243947 relating to immunity for soldiers” on Monday 20 May at 4.30pm.
Damian Moore MP, a member of the Committee, will open the debate.

 

The Committee decided to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion “That this House has considered e-petition 236952 relating to dangerous driving” on Monday 3 June at 4.30pm.
Helen Jones MP, the Chair the Committee, will open the debate.
