This week's decisions included scheduling a debate on an e-petition relating to the closure of retail stores on Boxing Day.

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a government response, by Friday 18 November 2016.

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Tuesday 29 November 2016.

Petition debates

The Committee agreed to schedule a debate in Westminster Hall on the motion "That this House has considered e-petition 168524 relating to the closure of retail stores on Boxing Day" on Monday 12 December 2016 at 4.30pm.

Helen Jones MP, Chair of the Petitions Committee, will lead the debate.

The Committee agreed to write to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and ask for details of next year's consultation, so that it can inform petitioners who might wish to contribute.
