MPs to debate school attendance during Covid-19

29 October 2020

On Monday 2 November, MPs will debate a petition relating to school attendance during Covid-19.

The debate will be led by Petitions Committee member Jonathan Gullis MP. MPs from all parties can take part, and a Minister from the Department for Education will respond on behalf of the Government.

This debate has been scheduled in response to a petition calling for No prosecution for parents that remove child from school during a pandemic.

The debate will last 90 minutes, and will take place in Westminster Hall – the House of Commons second Chamber.

What are petitions debates?

Petitions debates are ‘general’ debates which allow MPs from all parties to discuss the important issues raised by one or more petitions, and put their concerns to Government Ministers.
