Decisions of the Petitions Committee Tuesday 17 March 2020

This week, the Committee's decisions included holding an evidence session with the Government on its response to Coronavirus.

The Committee considered all e-petitions which had reached over 100,000 signatures, and those over 10,000 signatures which had received a Government response before 16 March 2020.

Petitions which met these criteria after this date will be considered at the Committee's next meeting on Wednesday 25 March. 

Petitions with 100,000 signatures

  1. Close all universities down for an appropriate amount of time amidst COVID-19
    The Committee decided to hold an evidence session with the Government on its response to Coronavirus, on Wednesday 25 March. The Committee decided to consider scheduling a debate on this petition at a future meeting. 
  2. Implement UK lockdown for preventing spread of COVID19 
    The Committee decided to hold an evidence session with the Government on its response to Coronavirus, on Wednesday 25 March. The Committee decided to consider scheduling a debate on this petition at a future meeting. 
  3. Government to offer economic assistance to the events industry during COVID-19 
    The Committee decided to hold an evidence session with the Government on its response to Coronavirus, on Wednesday 25 March. The Committee decided to consider scheduling a debate on this petition at a future meeting.
