Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP appointed as Chair of the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art
Rt Hon Caroline Nokes has accepted the Speaker’s invitation to Chair the Speaker’s Advisory Committee on Works of Art for the 2024 Parliament. The new committee held its first meeting on Tuesday 25 February.
Rt Hon Caroline Nokes has been a sitting MP since May 2010, representing the constituency of Romsey and Southampton North. She is also Deputy Speaker (Second Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means) and prior to her selection as Chair, Caroline held various Ministerial posts with the previous government in the Home Office, Cabinet Office and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Following the appointment, Rt Hon Caroline Nokes said:
“It is a great privilege to have been appointed by Mr Speaker as the new Chair of the Works of Art Committee. In addition to protecting and promoting our parliamentary heritage collections for the nation, there are many exciting developments for the Committee to be getting on with this year, including commissions and display projects currently in development. I look forward to working collaboratively with the committee, to deliver the best results.”
