Upcoming Committee on Standards evidence sessions for inquiry into outside interests and employment

On Tuesday 10 June 2025, the Committee on Standards will host two evidence sessions.
These sessions will take place as part of the Committee’s inquiry into outside interests and employment.
The first session at 10.30am will be attended by:
- Doug Chalmers CB DSO OBE, Chair, Committee on Standards in Public Life
The second session at 11.30am will be attended by:
- Mark Swindells, Assistant Director of Public Affairs and National Offices, General Medical Council
The Committee is inquiring into whether there should be changes to the rules relating to outside interests and employment in the Code of Conduct for Members of Parliament.
The upcoming sessions will be the sixth and seventh held by the Committee as part of its inquiry, having previously taken evidence from the Chair of the Modernisation Committee, the Rt Hon Lucy Powell MP, the Commissioner for Standards, Daniel Greenberg CB, representatives from Ofcom, representatives from Global Media, academics from the University of Oxford and researchers from Transparency International and mySociety.
