Mr Richard Bacon elected Chair of the Public Accounts Commission

14 April 2020

Mr Richard Bacon was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Public Accounts Commission at its meeting on 24 March 2020, after Sir Edward Leigh stepped down from the role.

Chair's comment

Mr Bacon said:

"I am honoured that the Public Accounts Commission has elected me as its Chairman and I look forward to building upon the excellent work of Sir Edward Leigh. The role of the National Audit Office in monitoring the value for money of our public services has never been more critical. I will ensure that the Commission continues the important job of holding the NAO to account for this work through constructive challenge and close scrutiny of its strategies and budgets."
