A plan for an adult skills and lifelong learning revolution: Education Committee publishes Government response to report
12 March 2021
The Education Committee has today published the Government response to its report on adult skills and lifelong learning.
The Committee’s report A plan for an adult skills and lifelong learning revolution called for an ambitious and long-term strategy and identified four key pillars to revolutionise the adult education system.
Chair's comment
Rt Hon Robert Halfon MP, Chair of the Education Committee, said:
“I thank the Government for the response to our report and welcome the Lifetime Skills Guarantee as set out in the recent White Paper. This is a huge step forward. We now urge the Government to build on the work it is doing already and to be bolder and more imaginative by providing a community learning centre in every town, introducing lifelong learning accounts and committing to a skills tax credit to encourage businesses to provide the skills our country needs. We look forward to holding a session with the Minister for Skills and continuing to make the case for a long-term plan for adult education.”
